Successful day at Penzance’s Charter Market

At the end of September, Penzance Council took part in its first Charter Market, organised by Penzance BID.

Despite the weather being overcast and threatening a downpour at any minute, it did stay dry, meaning there were quite a few people out and about, wandering through town.

Our Town Mayor Councillor Nicole Broadhurst, together with Deputy Mayor Cllr Penny Young, Civic Deputies Cllrs Jonathan How and Tracey Halliday, plus Cllrs Steve Cordel and Karen Baker ran the stall, and our first appearance at this regular event attracted a lot of interest from passers-by.

Overall, we received and dealt with 47 specific enquiries on the day, with only one we couldn’t resolve other than by signposting the person to the right place.

Cllr Broadhurst commented: “The people we talked to today were very engaged and very interested, and the feedback we’ve had has been overwhelmingly positive.

“We’ve had lots of people saying what a great idea it is for us to get involved and support this, and for us to actually be out here as councillors.

“We’ve also been asked whether we’ll be doing it again, and the answer to that is a resounding yes!”

So there you have it: Penzance Council will be at the next Charter Markets on Saturday 26th October and Saturday 30th November. Please do stop and say hi if you’re passing!
